Mumbai: In a tragic incident early Monday morning, two young men lost their lives and another was critically injured after their scooter crashed into an electric pole on Gorai-Uttan Road in Mumbai’s western suburbs. The fatal accident occurred near Kumar Residency around June 30 and police believe the victims may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time.
The deceased have been identified as Dinesh Tewar (25), a resident of Sion Koliwada, and Shivam Shahu (27), from Antop Hill. The third victim, Riyan Chaudhary (27), sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
Details On The Accident
According to an Indian Express report, the trio were riding triple-seat on a scooter, which is both illegal and dangerous. The accident took place when the rider lost control of the vehicle, which skidded on the rain-soaked road and slammed into a roadside electric pole. The impact was severe, throwing all three men off the two-wheeler.
Locals Rush Victims To Bhayandar Hospital
Pedestrians and passersby immediately rushed to help and called for medical assistance. The victims were quickly transported to Tembha Hospital in Bhayandar. While Shahu and Tewar were declared dead on arrival, Chaudhary survived with severe injuries and was later shifted to a better-equipped facility for further treatment.
Initial investigations suggest that the trio may have been intoxicated, as per statements given by police officers familiar with the case.
