Fun day for kids at govt school after summer vacations
It was a day of fun and frolic as all government schools reopened after summer break to welcome students with some light-hearted games and entertainment. In efforts to increase attendance and create a celebratory feeling around coming back to school for students, District Education office had issued a directive to all school heads to welcome students back with a ‘Fun Day’ to make their return cheerful and stress-free. In a circular sent to government and aided schools, the DEO emphasized the importance of easing students into the academic routine by creating a warm and engaging environment on the first day. And that’s what was waiting for them at schools.

At Government Middle School, Gumtala, the students were seen enjoying a traditional board games including chess, ludo and snakes and ladder or carrom as they left their school bags sitting comfortably in classrooms, on rest for the day. Some were engaged in outdoor games like kho-kho, while others unleashed their creativity through colours.
“The idea was to have a relaxed return to school for students, so that they feel eased out and not stressed. Relieving the academic stress for a day is a good idea as a fun return to schools would encourage students to be regular in their attendance,” said Sunita Rani, a teacher.
Several school with senior secondary classes organized welcome assemblies, motivational talks, cultural programmes, storytelling sessions and classroom decoration to create a festive atmosphere. Even parents, who came to drop and pick up their wards, said that it was a good effort. “It is a good gesture as it will give positive energy to children and get some fun into classroom learning,” said Satinderpal Singh, a parent.
