'Blame It On The Boots: Lionel Messi Writes Special Letter To Barcelona Youngster Lamine Yamal; Video

Lionel Messi stars in a new adidas campaign for the return of their iconic F50 boots, where he looks back on his legendary career. In the ad, Messi is questioned about his many unforgettable moments on the pitch from outplaying defenders to scoring jaw-dropping goals. To each question, he simply replies, “F50 made me do it.”

In the video, Messi can be seen writing a personal letter to Barcelona’s rising star, Lamine Yamal. In the note, he shares a bit of wisdom “Blame it on the boots!” a nod to how the F50s helped him shine on the field.

Back in 2021, Lionel Messi made one of the most shocking move in football transfer history by leaving Barcelona for Paris Saint Germain. Following his departure Barcelona afailed to find a player who could atleast try and fill in the shopes of the Argentina legend.Many came and went but in th eend it was the La Masia product Lamine Yamal who is now looking to fulfill the huge boots.

Yamal has quickly become one of Barça’s brightest talents. With Ansu Fati leaving for Monaco on loan, the club is preparing to hand Yamal the iconic No. 10 jersey the same number worn by legends like Messi and Ronaldinho. Barcelona is expected to confirm the shirt change when Yamal turns 18 on July 13.

Yamal will rejoin his teammates for pre-season training this month as the squad begins preparations for the 2025-26 season.
