Bank Service Stopped: All online services of this bank have stopped, know when they will start again
SBI outage: The country’s largest public sector bank SBI’s digital services like YONO, UPI, RTGS and NEFT came to a halt due to technical glitch late on Tuesday night. This is causing a lot of trouble to the bank’s customers. The bank has responded to this.
SBI outage: The country’s largest public sector bank, State Bank of India (SBI), faced technical difficulties on Wednesday, July 2. Due to this, many of its major digital services were affected. According to DownDetector, around 1:00 am late night, more than 400 customers complained of services like YONO, UPI, RTGS, NEFT, INB and IMPS being disrupted.
When will the service be restored?
Amidst this widespread outage, SBI issued a statement on social media platform X saying that all services will be fully restored by 2:30 pm today. The bank has apologized to the customers for the inconvenience and advised them to use UPI Lite and ATM services for the time being.
This technical glitch has come at a time when people’s dependence on digital transactions and mobile banking is constantly increasing. According to banking experts, there is a need for constant investment in the IT capacity of public institutions to avoid such disruptions.
What to do if SBI service stops?
If SBI’s digital services like YONO, Internet Banking (INB), NEFT, RTGS or UPI are temporarily stopped, then there is no need to panic. You can use two options:
1. Make quick payments with UPI Lite
UPI Lite is actually a simplified version of UPI which works even when the bank’s server is down. In this, small transactions (up to ₹ 500) can be done without entering UPI PIN every time.
How to use UPI Lite:
- Open any UPI-enabled app (like PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM or GPay).
- Go to the UPI Lite section on the home screen.
- Activate UPI Lite by linking your SBI account.
- Add balance to UPI Lite wallet (maximum ₹2,000 at a time).
- Make instant payments without waiting for bank approval.
- Ideal for small expenses like grocery, tea shops, auto-rickshaw, travel fares.
- No need to send SMS every time or enter PIN for every payment.
2. Withdraw cash from SBI ATM
- SBI ATM services work even during outages.
- Withdraw cash from a nearby SBI or any other bank ATM.
- Check account balance from ATM.
- Make payments at POS machines in shops using your SBI debit card.
- Use the card to pay for home deliveries or bills like electricity and water.
