In a bold and strategic move, the makers of 'War 2' have decided that stars Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr will steer clear of each other during the entire promotional campaign of the film. The reason? To maintain the fierce onscreen animosity between the two powerhouses until audiences experience it firsthand in theatres.
The upcoming action spectacle, a key chapter in Yash Raj Films’ expanding spy universe, is expected to feature an explosive face-off between Hrithik and NTR Jr. According to sources from the trade circuit, the production house is going all out to preserve the impact of this cinematic clash.

A senior trade insider revealed, “Hrithik & NTR Jr will be promoting ‘War 2’ separately and all plans have been made keeping in mind that they would never share the stage together, never be in any promotional video together pre-release and never seen with each other. Hrithik and NTR Jr coming together is a once in a lifetime cinematic moment in Indian cinema and there will be a bloody carnage on the big screen.”
YRF is reportedly taking no chances when it comes to protecting the integrity of their story’s central conflict. As per the source, “YRF is clear that the audience should first experience this rivalry before they see the two promote with camaraderie. They want to deliver the best movie-watching experience to people by preserving the conflict which is the unique selling point of the film.”
YRF's unconventional promotional ways
This isn’t the first time YRF has gone the unconventional route for their spyverse. The studio has a track record of deploying unconventional marketing strategies to build intrigue without giving away the plot.
“They were the first to resort to a no interview before release policy during promotions of spyverse films so that the actors don’t divulge details from the script during such interactions,” the insider said. “In the first ‘War’, Hrithik & Tiger first came face to face with each other during the success bash of the film.”
YRF also previously leaned into digital-first promotion for Pathaan, using curated social media capsules featuring Shah Rukh Khan instead of traditional events. The gamble paid off, with the film smashing box office records. Likewise, Tiger Zinda Hai built buzz by highlighting how the 'Tiger' franchise laid the groundwork for what’s now a fully-fledged cinematic universe, with fellow spy characters appearing in cross-promotional campaigns.
