Ban on Pakistani actors’ Instagram accounts lifted, leaving internet user wondering why

Several Instagram accounts of famous Pakistani actors and actresses were banned in India following the Pahalgam attack on April 22, which led to the death of at least 26 civilians. Now, on July 2, 2025, the bans on the accounts of Mawra Hocane, Saba Qamar, Ahad Raza Mir, Yumna Zaidi, and Danish Taimoor were lifted, and their accounts became visible to Indian users.

However, it should be noted that not all Pakistani celebs’ accounts were unblocked, and a few of them remain hidden. Instagram handles of stars such as Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, and singer Atif Aslam are still inaccessible.

Is the Ban on Pakistani Actors Removed?

As soon as the bans on Pakistani celebs’ accounts were lifted, fans started wondering, “Why did the government remove them?” Others argued that they were just “B-list” stars from Pakistan, so it didn’t really matter.

“Not required! Well, I don’t know who even these artists are. Never watched any dramas or movies or shows of that country! Never followed anyone,” argued one.

Meanwhile, there has been no official statement from the government or the Ministry of Information and Technology on the bans being lifted — or whether it is just a glitch in Instagram’s algorithms.

Meanwhile, Hania Aamir has been in the news recently for her film Sardaar Ji 3. The movie, which also features Diljit Dosanjh, has been banned in India.

Although the film hasn’t been released in India, Hania’s casting has sparked outrage, with several film bodies and Indian celebrities demanding a ban on Diljit for collaborating with her.
