VIDEO: Mid-Air Scare on Goa-Pune SpiceJet Flight as Window Pane Comes Loose; X User Asks, 'How Many Lives Must Be Lost Before Administration Wakes Up?'

Passengers on SpiceJet flight SG‑1080 from Goa to Pune experienced a mid‑air scare on July 1 after an inner window frame came loose during the flight. As the video was shared on X, a user tagged Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol and asked, “how many lives need to be lost for the administration to wake up" (sic).

The airline, however, in response to The Indian Express, clarified that there was no loss of cabin pressure, as the outer window remained intact and passenger safety was never at risk.

The airline stated that the dislodged part was a non-structural window trim used for shade and did not affect the aircraft’s safety. Cabin pressure remained normal, and passenger safety was not compromised, it added.

A video of the incident was posted by a flyer on X, who wrote, “#SpiceJet from Goa to Pune today. The whole interior window assembly just fell off mid flight. And this flight is now supposed to take off and head to Jaipur. Wonder if it’s air worthy.” (sic)

In the replies, another flyer noted that he had already lodged a complaint about the same aircraft and asked Mohol, “how many lives need to be lost for the administration to wake up” (sic), adding:

“I had already complained about the same flight on 25 June. Airsewa people closed it saying they'll ‘review’ it. @mohol_murlidhar ajun kiti lok mele ki jaag yeil tumhala? No action is taken against Spicejet and this aircraft despite multiple complaints.” (sic)

He had earlier posted several photos from the flight showing its poor condition, writing: “SpiceJet, You guys are beyond repair. Goa Pune SG1080 flight was delayed by 2.5 hrs. Pilot blatantly and shamelessly lied saying it wasn't in our control and was because of the runway closure on Pune airport. The initial flight coming from Mumbai itself took off late. Why was your pilot lying instead of admitting it? Condition of the aircraft was pathetic. Broken seats, M Ceal put on emergency exit, broken platforms, stinky washroom, rough landing and countless things. I had pre booked nonveg sandwich but I was told it wasn't available. I had to eat veg sandwich. Below are the photos of broken interior.@DGCAIndia @MoCA_India @RamMNK @mohol_murlidhar is this the experience you want to give to the passengers? What about the safety and comfort of passengers? Waiting for another accident to happen?” (sic)

The flyer raised concerns over repeated complaints and the airline’s failure to address maintenance and safety issues despite multiple warnings.
