Staff shortage hits services at Sangrur hospital
The Sangrur Civil Hospital is grappling with staff shortage as 31 posts of doctor and 18 of nurse are lying vacant.
Ten positions of ward attendant and five of sweeper are also required to be filled for the 200-bedded hospital, which receives a large number of patients daily.
According to information, of 39 sanctioned posts of emergency medical officers (doctors), 29 are vacant at the hospital. Two positions of specialist doctors — a radiologist and anaesthetist — are also vacant.
There are 48 posts of staff nurse and 20 of sweeper sanctioned for the facility.
Currently, four computer operators, eight ward attendants, an electrician, plumber, two safai sewaks and a sewer man have been performing duties in the hospital as outsourced employees.
Punjab
