10 nakas set up in city to step up vigil

In a proactive move to strengthen law and order in the city, Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, along with other senior police officers, has implemented special security measures across Jalandhar. Over 10 hi-tech and strategically positioned nakas (check-points) have been set up to maintain the heightened vigilance against anti-social elements.

The CP said the purpose of this nakabandi is to enforce law and order, monitor the movement of suspicious individuals and regulate traffic. More than 200 police personnel have been deployed at these nakas under the supervision of gazetted officers. They have been instructed to carry out extensive checking of all suspicious vehicles and take preventive action against individuals displaying suspicious behaviour. Key locations, including Rama Mandi Chowk, BMC Chowk, Pathankot Chowk, Workshop Chowk and Pragpur Point, are under high surveillance. Senior police officials also patrolled busy marketplaces in Jalandhar and interacted with the deployed personnel to assess on-ground readiness.

“To ensure foolproof security, all gazetted officers and SHOs have been directed to remain on field duty,” she added.

The CP has also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity via Police Helpline 112.
