Brief: Three ‘drug peddlers’ held

Phagwara: The police have arrested three ‘drugs peddlers’ and recovered 167 intoxicating tablets from their possession on Tuesday. As many as 47 tablets were recovered from a youth Nitish of village Sangh-Dhesian near Goraya, who was nabbed at a nakabandi. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. In another case, the police arrested two more ‘drug smugglers’ Manpreet and Deepak and recovered 120 tablets from their possession. Both accused were apprehended at a check point under the NDPS Act. oc

Youth arrested with Intoxicants

Phagwara: The Rawalpindi police apprehended a youth in possession of intoxicating capsules and tablets, registering a case under the NDPS Act. Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti informed the media that police personnel intercepted a young man near Rihana Jattan during a routine check. Upon searching him, cops recovered 48 intoxicating capsules and 20 tablets suspected to be narcotics. The accused has been identified as Abhinav Sharma of Mohalla Nohrian, Garhshankar. oc

Four booked for assault

Phagwara: The Lohian Khas police have booked four persons on the charge of assaulting a Moga resident. The accused have been identified as Jassa Singh of Chakpiply village and his three accomplices. Paramjit Singh of Fateh Garhpanjtoor village in Moga complained to the police that he was driving an autorickshaw and was going to Ismailpur village with passengers on June 15 when the accused Jassa Singh waylaid him near Kakar Kalan village and his three accomplices attacked him and injured him. oc

Four held for drug peddling

Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested a drug peddler on the charge of selling heroin. Four gram of heroin was recovered from the possession of the accused Meetu, alias Meeta of Malsian. The Nakodar Sadar police arrested ‘drug peddler’ Joga Singh of Billi Chao village with 15 intoxicating tablets. The police arrested two Ajay and Anthoni of Malrri village with 115 intoxicating tablets. oc

Villager booked for homicide

Phagwara: The Shahkot police have booked a villager on the charge of culpable homicide. The accused has been identified as Dilpreet of Talwandi Bharo village. Som Chand of the same village complained to the police that the accused had administered some poisonous substance to his son Komal Preet, which killed him on June 27. oc

Cheating accused PO arrested

Phagwara: The Nakodar police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) absconding since last year. The accused has been identified as Kuldeep Singh of Tahli village. The accused is wanted in cases of theft and cheating registered in January and April 2024. — oc
