Illegal structures of drug peddlers razed

As part of the government’s ongoing war against drugs campaign, the district administration today demolished three illegal constructions built by drug smugglers on panchayat land in village Dogranwal.

SSP, Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora stated that on the directions of the BDPO, Dhilwan, the civil and police administration took action and used a ditch machine to demolish three illegal encroachments made by drug smugglers on panchayati land at Dogranwal village.

He said these three smugglers already faced 19 NDPS Act cases registered against them in various police stations and a large quantity of drugs had also been recovered from them earlier.

Accused Rajwinder Singh, alias Raju, resident of Dogranwal, has been facing seven NDPS cases, Sukhjinder Singh, alias Kaka, from the same area is having four cases and Sukhchain Singh is also facing three cases.

The SSP emphasised that the district police maintains zero tolerance against drugs and is fully committed to eradicating this menace. He appealed to the public to stop supporting drug smugglers .

He also urged people to cooperate with civil and police administration in efforts guided by the state government to eliminate drugs from Punjab.

He said with joint efforts of the civil and police administration, skill training courses have been started at the civil hospital for the rehabilitation of drug-addicted youth.

He appealed to the public that if any drug-affected individual comes into contact with them, they should be admitted to the de-addiction center at the civil hospital and enrolled in ongoing skill training courses .
