SAD leaders, going to Mohali, put under house arrest

SAD leaders, who were going to protest in Mohali in support of senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia, were stopped at different places by the district police this morning and put under house arrest.

As soon as the morning broke, the doorbells of the houses of Akali leaders started ringing and as soon as the doors opened, police officers went inside and told the Akali leaders, who were getting ready to go to Mohali, that they had been put under house arrest.

Meanwhile, district president of Shiromani Akali Dal Lakhvinder Singh Lakhi was arrested at his home in village ‘Giljian’. Also SAD district urban chief Kulwant Singh Manan and Hoshiarpur in-charge Jitinder Singh Lali Bajwa were kept under house arrest in Bhagat Singh Nagar. Similarly, in-charge of Shamchurasi Sandeep Singh Sikri was house-arrested in village Sikri. Similarly, Youth Akali Dal president Inderjit Singh Kang was detained at his residence in Hoshiarpur.

Apart from this, several other Akali officials of the district were kept under house arrest. The Hajipur police kept senior Akali leader Kripal Singh Gera and circle jathedar Lakhwinder Singh Timmy, who were going to Mohali on Wednesday in support of Majithia, put under house arrest.
