AAP Slams Delhi Govt Over Lajpat Nagar Double Murder Case: 'BJP MLAs, Ministers Took All Security'

The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday slammed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi over the law and order situation in the national capital, alleging a lack of appropriate police personnel.

The AAP lashed out at the saffron party after an incident of double murder was reported from the city's Lajpat Nagar area. A mother and her son were found brutally killed in their home on Wednesday. Preliminary probe suggests that the family's driver and helper, Mukesh, killed the two after being recently scolded by the woman.

AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj blamed the BJP for deploying the Delhi Police for their political work rather than solving the city's crime issues.

"Delhi Police is busy with political work... There was already a shortage of Police in Delhi, and the BJP has deployed the remaining in VIP security," said the former Delhi minister.

"All the BJP MLAs and Ministers in Delhi have taken security. Even the Delhi BJP President has taken security. Why are they so scared?" Bharadwaj questioned.

"AAP leaders did not take security. I didn't take any security either... Police recruitment is crucial for improving law and order in Delhi, and the central government has been delaying this process for the past decade," he said.

Meanwhile, the BJP claimed prompt action by the authorities concerned in the case.

BJP MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah said he spoke to the Deputy Commissioner of Police as soon as the information about the crime was received.

"...As soon as we got the information, we talked to DCP South East, Hemant Tiwari. He constituted 8-10 teams and found the location of the culprit," said the legislator.

"I am thankful for his efforts. They have caught the culprit. We will provide all the required assistance to the family," he added.
