Breaking News: 40 Kedarnath Pilgrims Rescued After Being Trapped in Landslide Near Sonprayag | ABP NEWS
In a dramatic rescue operation, 40 pilgrims returning from Kedarnath narrowly escaped a potential disaster after getting trapped in a landslide zone near Sonprayag, Uttarakhand. The incident occurred around 10 PM last night when heavy rainfall triggered a landslide in the Munkhtiya area—a known landslide-prone zone this year. The group, returning from darshan at Kedarnath Dham, was stranded amidst falling rocks and blocked paths. Thankfully, the SDRF and NDRF teams, already stationed in the area due to weather alerts, responded swiftly. Rescuers carefully navigated through debris and safely evacuated all 40 pilgrims. As a precaution, pedestrian travel on the Kedarnath route has been temporarily halted until the debris is cleared with JCB machines and further landslide risks subside. With the rainy season intensifying in Uttarakhand, the administration urges caution for all pilgrims planning travel. Authorities remain on high alert to ensure the safety of devotees during the sacred Saavan month.
