Mumbai: To improve passenger convenience and modernize the train system, Indian Railways has made another important change. Now, passengers will get to know a day in advance if their waiting or RAC ticket is confirmed or not.

This new rule will help people make better travel plans and avoid last-minute confusion.

When Will the Reservation Chart Be Prepared?

According to the new instructions from the Railway Board, the reservation chart will now be made earlier based on the train's departure time:

- Trains departing between 5:00 AM and 2:00 PM

- The first reservation chart will be prepared by 9:00 PM the previous night.

- Trains departing between 2:00 PM and 5:00 AM (next day)

- The first chart will be made at least 8 hours before the train’s departure.

Second Reservation Chart

No change in this chart. It will still be prepared as per the current rules to allow for maximum current bookings.

These new rules will also apply to remote charting locations.

How Will Passengers Benefit?

- People with waiting or RAC tickets will get early clarity about their booking status.

- It will help passengers plan their journey properly, especially those traveling at night.

- More current booking seats will be available, improving seat allotment and reducing last-minute problems.

Why Did Railways Make This Change?

This step is part of Indian Railways’ goal to offer better customer experience, timely digital charting, and ensure maximum seat utilization. It will also help increase revenue through better management of current bookings.
