What are the benefits?
Direct assistance up to Rs 2.5 lakh: Those who have their own land are given this amount to build a house.
Interest subsidy: Under CLSS i.e. Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme, interest subsidy of up to Rs 2.67 lakh is available.
Cheap houses and low rent: Houses are made available to landless people at affordable rates. Government-built houses are also given at very low rent.
Who can avail the benefits of the scheme?
Under this scheme, those families of EWS (economically weaker section), LIG (low income group) and HIG (middle income group) can apply who do not already have a pucca house in the country. Eligibility is as follows:
- EWS: Annual income up to ₹3 lakh
- LIG: Annual income up to ₹6 lakh
- HIG: Annual income up to ₹9 lakh
If a person has availed the benefits of any housing scheme of the central or state government in the last 20 years, then he will not be eligible for this scheme.
Who will get priority in the scheme?
Socially disadvantaged sections are given priority in this scheme. These include widows, Divyangjan, single women, transgender, Scheduled Caste/Tribe, minorities and street vendors. Apart from this, people associated with schemes like PM Vishwakarma and PM Swanidhi, Anganwadi workers and slum residents also come in the priority list.
