Breaking: Thunag Town Ravaged by Cloudburst, Dozens of Homes Washed Away in Himachal’s Mandi | ABP NEWS
A catastrophic cloudburst struck Thunag town in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district on Monday night, triggering massive flooding and widespread destruction. The remote town, nestled in the Seraj Valley, witnessed an onslaught of rainwater and debris as multiple mountain streams swelled uncontrollably, sweeping through homes, shops, and roads like a raging river. At least 40 houses were washed away, resembling paper boats in the storm. The area now lies disconnected from the district headquarters for the third consecutive day, with no road access, electricity, water supply, or mobile connectivity. Relief supplies are being airdropped as residents face a severe shortage of food and essentials. Local officials and rescue teams are on the ground, but the scale of devastation is overwhelming. Markets have been reduced to rubble, filled with mud, stones, and broken timber. The town's infrastructure is obliterated, and residents are left searching for a place to begin rebuilding their lives. ABP News became the first channel to reach the devastated zone, capturing the aftermath and stories of survival. With livelihoods destroyed and communication severed, the challenge now lies in restoring normalcy to a town flattened by nature’s fury.
