Woman seeking help for medical treatment falls prey to online scam

A woman in Udupi, battling cancer and seeking financial aid through social media, fell victim to an online fraud. A scammer, impersonating a representative from a religious mutt, promised her financial assistance but tricked her into paying Rs 30,000 in alleged taxes. Malpe Police have registered a case under the BNS 2023 and IT Act following her complaint.
