Adampur pilot wins hearts on inaugural Mumbai flight

The IndiGo’s maiden flight that took off from Adampur to Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon was a special occasion not only for the Doabites, but also for the pilot who was flying it.

His video while interacting with passengers went viral a day after. Capt Harpreet Singh Nali cited two reasons that made his flight special. “Today, my father Surinder Pal Singh Nali is also on board. I had been waiting for this moment for a long time and it finally came today. I feel very proud that he is travelling with me", he said as the passengers on board cheered him.

The second reason for the flight being special given by him was that he was connected to Adampur. “My maternal grandparents live in Adampur. So this destination is really special for me", he said as the passengers gave a second round of applause for him.

The airport staff, who knew the pilot personally, said Capt Harpreet Singh Nali hailed from Daroli Kalan, which is close to the Adampur Civil Airport. The pilot yesterday got off the plane and cut the cake with the crew during the 25-minute halt to celebrate the launch of the new destination.

The pilot won several hearts as he started conversing with the passengers in English and eventually shifted to Punjabi. He started conversation with the words, “Hi everyone! I welcome you all." As he switched to Punjabi, he said, “Punjabi tan tusin sare samajhde hone." The crowd clapped and cheered him again and said, “Yes, yes". Capt Harpreet told them, “Mere nanke vi Adampur ne. Ik hor cheez ho gyi special mere lyi. Bahut bahut dhanyawad eh flight choose karan lyi. Sat Sri Akal! Jai Hind!"
