Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The local court of Shillong has extended the judicial custody of Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi, the three assailants in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, for 14 more days. Sonam Raghuvanshi and her alleged paramour Raj Kushwaha are likely to be presented in court on Friday.

Assistant public prosecutor advocate Tushar Chanda said, “The judge heard the matter on Thursday via video conference as the accused were not produced physically in the court after their 14-day judicial custody expired on Thursday. On Friday, the court is likely to extend the judicial custody of Sonam and Raj Kushwaha.”

Srishti apologises for ‘human sacrifice’ remark

Raja’s brother Vipin Raghuvanshi responded to the Guwahati police FIR against his sister Srishti Raghuvanshi, saying that the family had tried to comply with police instructions.

Srishti apologised for her remark that Raja’s death was a human sacrifice. “They asked us to apologise, so we apologised. The police asked Srishti to provide them with all the evidence she had and apologise. The notice came 15 days ago from the Assam police. Due to the reel on Instagram, Srishti’s followers are increasing, which has led the police to suspect that she is diverting the investigation in another direction,” he said.

Guwahati police said that they registered the case against Srishti and a news anchor after they failed to appear before the investigating officer for their statements and did not respond to the summons.

Ankur Jain, joint police commissioner, Guwahati said, “In this regard, a case has been registered at the Crime Branch police station vide Crime Branch police station under sections 196(2), 299, 302 of BNS.

The IO sent 35 (3) BNSS notice to the accused named in the FIR, including the anchor of the news channel and Srishti Raghuwanshi of Indore on June 13 to appear before the Investigation Officer at Crime Branch PS on June 23 and June 24, but they did not appear before the IO till date.”
