BCCI rushes Vaibhav Suryavanshi to Edgbaston less than 24 hours after heroics against England U19
New Delhi: Rising Indian cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who surprised everyone with his playing style during the IPL 2025 before playing fiery knocks in the ongoing U19 ODI tour of England. He was spotted at the Edgbaston cricket ground on Thursday, where witnessed Shubman Gill’s historic knock.
Continuing his divine touch, sublime form and overnight century, Shubman Gill maintained his blistering inning to put up another century on Day 2 to enter the history books as the first ever Indian captain to score a double century in a Test match in England. He also became the first captain of Asian origin to score a double hundred in a SENA country, breaking the 193 which was scored by Tillakaratne Dilshan at Lord in 2011. Gill is only the second Indian captain to score a double century in overseas Test, after Virat Kohli scored a 200 at North Sound in 2016.

Vaibhav, the star cricketer who last played in IPL season for the Rajasthan Royals and became a part of history books, the youngest ever centurion in the history of men T20 cricket, attended the event with the rest of the India U19 team members. One of them was captain Ayush Mahtre, one of the most surprising stars in IPL 2025, who played well in Chennai Super Kings.

Vaibhav has been the major hero in the on going U19 series with scores of 86, 45, 48 in the first three matches. his scorching 86 on Thursday was close enough to topple Rishabh Pant nine-year-old record of fastest fifty in U19 cricket. However, his knock was important in making India lead the series 2-1 having 2 matches to play.
