Breaking News: Communal Clash Erupts at Dhaba over Alleged Religious Dishonour, Sparks Outrage in UP | ABP NEWS
A serious incident at a dhaba (roadside eatery) in Uttar Pradesh has triggered communal tensions and renewed the debate on religious identity in food establishments. The conflict began when a kanvar pilgrim alleged that the staff served him non-vegetarian food during the sacred month of Shravan, violating religious beliefs. The man fled the spot in fear, later accusing the dhaba staff—allegedly from the Muslim community—of chasing him and attempting to assault him. Activists linked to Yashveer Maharaj staged a protest, alleging that many eateries named after Hindu gods are run by non-Hindus to mislead devotees. Video footage from the site shows escalating tensions and confrontations. The protestors claimed such establishments disrespect Hindu sentiments and demanded arrests, not just police notices. This is not the first time such an issue has surfaced. Last year, similar protests led to Supreme Court intervention. The Court ruled that owners aren’t required to display their religion, but they must specify whether food is vegetarian or non-vegetarian. However, the Yogi government had later ordered mandatory nameplates of the owner and manager. As tensions rise, police presence has increased. Hindu groups say they will continue "identity scanning" until action is taken.
