Janhit: BJP Set to Announce New National President in July Amid High Expectations | ABP NEWS
After over a year of speculation, the BJP is now poised to name its new national president—possibly between July 10 and 19. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi currently on a foreign tour and expected to return on July 10, sources suggest the announcement will follow soon after. This timing is also strategic, as the Parliament’s Monsoon Session begins on July 21. Crucially, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will be holding its Akhil Bharatiya Prant Pracharak Baithak in Delhi from July 6. This meeting is expected to address the leadership transition, with BJP’s General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santosh likely to be consulted. The RSS has historically influenced key appointments in the BJP, and this round may be no exception. Organizational elections are a prerequisite for the president's selection. Over 28 state and Union Territory units have completed this process—exceeding the minimum 19 states required. Interestingly, recent appointments have mostly gone to leaders with RSS backgrounds or those seen as low-profile, loyal, and non-controversial. Names like N. Ramachandra Rao (Telangana), Anil Tiwari (Andaman), and others with RSS roots suggest a trend that may influence the national pick. However, a few appointees from regions like Ladakh and Puducherry lack Sangh affiliation, reflecting a possible balance between ideological grounding and regional outreach. As the BJP prepares for its future leadership under a new president, all eyes remain on who will succeed J.P. Nadda and guide the party into the next electoral phase, including the run-up to the 2029 general elections.
