6K challans issued in Yamunanagar district in June

The police have issued challans to 6,000 persons for violating traffic rules under the Motor Vehicles Act in Yamunanagar district in June.

Out of the total challans, 703 were issued for overspeeding, 565 for driving without pattern number plate or without number plate, 108 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 734 for triple riding, 70 for having black films and 15 challans were issued for causing noise pollution with Bullet motorcycles.

Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria said the district police were carrying out a drive to check traffic violations and curb criminal activities.

He added that it was often seen that motorists violated traffic rules by using number plates without pattern/high security (HSRP), driving under the influence of alcohol, triple riding, riding bikes without silencers and applying black films on four-wheelers.

“From time to time, our teams make people aware about the importance of following traffic rules, but many motorists don’t believe in following rules and such people are challaned,” said the SP.

He added that the drive has been launched by the district police with the aim to ensure compliance of traffic rules, preventing road accidents and curbing crime in the district.

“Road accidents increase due to non-compliance of traffic rules. Besides, criminals take advantage of violations,” said Bhoria.

He said he had directed SHOs of all police stations and SHO of traffic police station to take action against those who do not follow traffic rules.
