Parent-teacher meet in government primary schools across state today

The Haryana School Education Department is set to organise parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) for students of classes III-V at government primary schools across the state on Saturday.

The move aims to improve students’ overall performance. Schools opened on July 1 after a month-long summer vacation, and, over the first four days, teachers checked the students’ homework.

The Education Department Directorate, in its letter to all District Elementary Education Officers (DEEOs), Block Education Officers (BEOs), and School Education Officers, said creative and practical summer vacation homework was given to students under the NIPUN Haryana initiative.

The homework was designed to foster creativity, autonomy and curiosity among students.

Assignments ensured that students reached out to parents and the elderly to complete them, it added, stating that the aim was to involve caregivers in students’ education. During the PTMs, teachers will discuss the holiday homework with parents.

To make the PTM more effective, all cluster in-charges, BRPs and ABRCs have been told to visit at least one school during the meetings.

All school heads have been asked to present a PTM report after analysing students’ work.

Panipat DEEO Subhash Kumar Bhardwaj said preparations to organise PTMs in all 243 government primary schools in the district had been completed.

All teachers and other staff had been directed to participate in the PTMs, the DEEO said.
