Trade unions condemn privatisation, call for nationwide strike on July 9

The leaders of various trade unions, at a district-level meeting held at the local Gandhi Municipal Park, called upon all sections of society to actively participate in the nationwide strike on July 9 against the Union Government’s anti-people policies. The leaders of different trade unions, as well as employees, workers, and farmers’ organisations associated with the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha, were present on the occasion.

Inderjit Singh Marhana, Mukhtar Singh Mallha, Harbhajan Singh Chuslewar, Gurpreet Singh Gandiwind, Seema Sohal, Nachhattar Singh and others condemned the Union Government for handing over all public sector undertakings to the corporate sector merely to appease corporate interests.

The leaders said with the implementation of the Union Government’s schemes, the day was not far when the weaker sections of society would be deprived of essential facilities like education and healthcare, and the doors to government jobs would be closed.
