Mumbai News: Dadar Police Arrests Man For Stalking Schoolgirl; Case Registered Under POSCO Act

Mumbai: The Dadar Police on Thursday arrested 23-year-old Amit Kedarnath Gupta, for allegedly stalking and molesting a teenage schoolgirl. Gupta reportedly pursued the victim for three months in Garage Gully, Dadar West.

According to the complaint filed with the police, the 14-year-old victim attends a local school and would walk there from her home. In Garage Gully, the accused, Gupta, allegedly began staring at her with ill intent and following her. Initially, the student tried to ignore his actions.

However, as Gupta attempted to get closer, the frightened student informed her family. With their assistance, a complaint was filed with the Dadar Police.

Police registered a case under Section 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on July 3, and subsequently located and arrested the accused, Gupta.

The accused is a resident of the Dadar area, and police are conducting a thorough investigation.
