PM Modi arrives in Argentina on two-day visit, first bilateral trip in 57 years

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Argentina for a two-day visit during the early hours of Saturday. This is Modi's second visit to Argentina since he became prime minister.
Prime Minister Modi arrived at Ezeiza International Airport during the early hours of Saturday and was accorded a ceremonial welcome. The prime minister will hold talks with the top leadership of the country and discuss ways to enhance the bilateral relationship between the countries.
This is the first Indian bilateral visit at the prime ministerial level to Argentina in 57 years. Modi had first visited Argentina in 2018, to attend the G20 Summit. Argentina is Modi's third stop on the prime minister's five-nation visit.
According to the ministry of external affairs, the prime minister will hold talks with Argentine President Javier Milei to boost India-Argentina partnership in key areas, including defence, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade and investment. "The bilateral visit of the prime minister will further deepen the multifaceted strategic partnership between India and Argentina," it said in a statement.
"Landed in Buenos Aires for a bilateral visit which will focus on augmenting relations with Argentina," Modi said in a post on X after arriving in Argentina. In his departure statement, the prime minister said that Argentina is a key economic partner in Latin America and a close collaborator in the G20 and that he looked forward to discussions with President Javier Milei.
"We will focus on advancing our mutually beneficial cooperation, including in the areas of agriculture, critical minerals, energy, trade, tourism, technology, and investment," Modi had stated.
After Argentina, Modi will next visit Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Summit. Modi will travel to Namibia in the final leg of his five-nation tour.
