Purhiran Chowki to be upgraded as police station focal point
In a move aimed at improving policing and administrative efficiency in Hoshiarpur city and nearby villages, the Punjab government has issued a notification establishing a new police station.
The existing police post, Purhiran Chowki, which currently falls under Police Station Model Town, will now be upgraded to a full-fledged police station named ‘Police Station Industrial Focal Point Purhiran.
A formal communication in this regard has been issued by the SSP Office. As per the letter, the decision to upgrade the Purhiran post follows instructions from the Director General of Police (DGP). The change is in accordance with Letter No 2730/Building-4, dated May 20, 2025, through which the Punjab government has issued a gazette notification for the establishment of the new police station.
With this restructuring, the area under Police Station Model Town will be reduced and a number of localities will now fall under the jurisdiction of the new police station.
These include village Purhiran, Maruli, Bassi Daulat Khan, Punga, and the following mohallas: Rahimpur, Scheme No. 2, Jagirpura, Shankar Nagar, Bansi Nagar, New Fatehgarh, Fatehgarh, Santokh Nagar, Mount Avenue, Arjan Nagar, Basant Nagar, Saroop Nagar, Sundar Nagar, Bhim Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Vijay Nagar, Deep Nagar, Ranjit Nagar, and Bhagat Singh Nagar.
The establishment of the Police Station Industrial Focal Point Purhiran is expected to enhance law enforcement response and administrative convenience in the rapidly growing industrial and residential areas of the city.
