Punjabi actress Tania’s father shot, condition is…, police probe extortion angle; family releases statement

On July 4, 2025, Dr Anil Jit Singh Kamboj, Punjabi actress Tania’s father, was shot in his Harbans Nursing Home in Kot Ise Khan, Moga.

Two masked men, posing as patients, opened fire at point-blank range. “The assailants came with a plan. They approached Dr. Kamboj posing as patients, then fired at close range,” stated the Moga Superintendent of Police. Hit by two bullets, he was quickly transported to a private hospital in Moga, where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators are treating this as a possible extortion attempt, noting that the doctor had received threats previously, though no official complaint had been filed. Forensic teams have been secured at the scene, CCTV footage is under review, and several police checkpoints are operational in Moga to track down the culprits.
