Punjab excise dept and police dispute over missing 400 litres lahan
A dispute over misplaced 400 litre of lahan has erupted between excise department and Chabal police recovered from Khairdinke village on Friday.
Lahan was recovered by the excise department team from the residence of Baljinder Singh who was arrested on the spot.
Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) Inderjit Singh Sehjra in a press release sent informed that the recovered Lahan was 2,600 litre.
Under the set rules, the team of the department handed over the accused and the recovered lahan, besides the material seized at the spot, to Chabal police the same day.
The Chabal police in the case registered mentioned that the recovered lahan was 2,200 litre, which was 400 litre less than mentioned and registered a case under Section 61, 1, 14 under Excise Act.
Inspector Paramjit Singh Virdi, SHO, Chabal, said that it was 2,200 litre lahan recovered by the team of the excise department and said that two of the drums were found to be empty.
However, ETO Inderjit Singh Sehjra said the recovered lahan was 2,600 litre.
The question has arisen where the remaining 400 Litre has gone which was of the value of thousands of rupees.
