Rao’s dinner fuels speculation in Ahirwal
The political temperature in Ahirwal region—particularly Rewari and Mahendragarh—has escalated following a series of developments and public protests, leading to a flurry of reactions in the area.
Political circles were abuzz after a dinner recently hosted by Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh in Chandigarh, and attended by several MLAs from south Haryana. Though the gathering fuelled political speculation, Rao clarified that the dinner was held to celebrate the housewarming of his daughter, Health Minister Arti Singh Rao, who recently got a residence in Chandigarh. “Since people and MLAs from south Haryana are associated with us, they were invited,” he said.
However, the situation quickly turned political when former minister and two-time former BJP MLA from Nangal Choudhary (Mahendragarh), Abhay Singh Yadav, posted on X: “Manju Chaudhary is welcome not only for dinner but also in BJP. If she feels like it, there is no need to hesitate. She is cordially invited. The alliance at the time of elections will remain brotherly—there will be no party bondage.”
Manju, the Congress MLA from Nangal Choudhary who defeated Yadav in the last election, hit back on her social media handle, stating that, “Yadav ji, I understand your feelings, but the truth is, you are unable to digest your defeat. If you had worked sincerely for your constituency….., you would not have to see this day. As for the dinner… Rao Sahab and our family share decades-old ties. There can be differences in politics but personal relations and humanity remain. Dragging this into politics reflects your mental frustration.”
The situation further flared up with the deputation of a circle officer from Bihar to the post of naib tehsildar at Dahina (Rewari), and senior Congress leader and former CPS Rao Dan Singh from Mahendragarh criticising the move.
“Since the BJP came to power, applicants from other states are being appointed to Class 1 and 2 jobs in Haryana. Now even naib tehsildars are coming from Bihar? While Haryana’s youth await Group-D jobs, outsiders are occupying top posts. Peon from Haryana, naib tehsildar from Bihar? CM Nayab Saini must answer”, he posted on social media.
Adding to the unrest, indefinite dharnas are underway in both Bhagwanpur (Rewari) and Koriawas (Mahendragarh). Residents of Bhagwanpur are demanding that a proposed 200-bed hospital be constructed in their village, while residents of Koriawas are insisting that Maharshi Chavan Government Medical College be named after freedom fighter Rao Tula Ram.
“Collectively, these issues have ignited political tempers in Ahirwal, with leaders engaging in verbal spats and accusations, signalling the onset of a charged political atmosphere,” said a political observer from Rewari.
