Govt providing food kits to disaster-hit in Mandi: Sukhu
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said that the situation in the disaster-hit areas of the Seraj Assembly constituency in Mandi district was returning to normal.
Sukhu said that the government would provide Rs 5,000 per month as rent to the families whose houses had been damaged in the disaster. He urged people to give their additional accommodation to the affected families on rent. He added that the state government was providing food items to the affected families and directions had been issued to the officials concerned in this regard. “Food material has been made available through mules and porters and Army personnel are also carrying out relief operations in the affected areas,” he claimed.
A government spokesperson said that the Mandi district administration had distributed 1,317 food kits comprising 5 kg of flour, 5 kg of rice, one liter of edible oil, one kg of salt, one kg of sugar, two kg of pulses, 100 gram of haldi, 100 gram of mirchi powder and 100 gram of tea among the affected families in the disaster-hit areas till July 4. He added that 197 food kits were made available in Thunag, 69 in Janjehli, 1,000 in Bagsaid, 40 in Dharampur and 11 kits in the Chauntra area.
He said 160 food kits were sent to Janjehli and 176 kits to Thunag in the Seraj Assembly constituency today for further distribution among the disaster-hit families.
