'Kisi Me Dum Hai Toh...': Bhojpuri Star Nirahua CHALLENGES Politicians To Oust Him From Maharashtra For Not Speaking Marathi
Bhojpuri superstar Dinesh Lal Yadav, aka Nirahua, openly challenged political parties and their members to oust him from Maharashtra for not speaking in Marathi. He slammed the Marathi language imposition row in Maharashtra on Friday and called the entire fiasco "dirty politics".
During the promotion of his upcoming film, Hamar Naam Ba Kanhaiya, actor Nirahua, who is also a BJP MP, said that India is known for its diverse languages and the harmony between all cultures. "The people who do this, I'd like to tell them that this is dirty politics. This should not happen in any part of the country. The ones engaging in such dirty politics must refrain from doing so and exercise caution."
Nirahua's open challenge to politicians
Nirahua went on to say, "Kisi mein dum hai toh humko Maharashtra se nikaal ke dikhaye. I don't speak Marathi. I openly challenge all politicians, try and remove me from Maharashtra. I live here. Try to throw me out."
Calling Marathi a beautiful language, the actor said that while everyone must learn as many languages as possible, they should not be forced to do it. "I am also a politician and I believe that politics should be in favour of people's welfare, not to exploit them. If someone wants to learn five different languages, then go for it." he stated.
"Marathi is a very beautiful language. So is Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati and every other language in the country, and everyone should learn all these languages if they are capable enough. But if they cannot learn it, then it's okay. They must not be targeted for it," he added.
What is the Marathi imposition row?
For those unversed, a few days ago, workers of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) assaulted a restaurant owner in Mumbai's Mira Road region for not speaking in Marathi. Reacting to he video, actor Ranvir Shorey had tweeted, "This is sickening. Monsters on the loose, looking for attention and political relevance. Where’s law and order?"
Later, investor Sushil Kedia's office in Worli was also vandalised after he challenged MNS chief Raj Thackeray over the Marathi language debate.
