Ivan Toney says yes to Manchester United, ready to take pay cut to leave Saudi this summer: Report

Former Brentford striker Ivan Toney is keen to join Manchester United this summer, according to news reports, just days after it was confirmed that the Englishman may return to the Premier League. The news comes amidst Ruben Amorim’s side zeroing in on Bryan Mbeumo, also a Brentford attacker.

 

The 29-year-old Toney currently represents Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, having joined the club in August 2024 following a £40 million transfer. It is learnt that the Saudi Pro League (RSL) side are open to selling the striker for a fee of around £30 million. Toney is reportedly willing to take a pay cut to return to European football and is well aware that United cannot match his current salary and other financial incentives offered in the cash-rich Middle Eastern league.

 

Ivan Toney is determined to make the England squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup and wants to prove to manager Thomas Tuchel that he is a strong contender for a place in the attacking line-up alongside captain Harry Kane. Believing that playing elite football in Europe's top leagues is essential for this goal, Toney has decided to push for a return to England, according to a report by TeamTalk. The report also stated that Toney becoming a Red Devil this summer is a "genuine possibility."

 

Earlier, it was reported that Ruben Amorim was open to selling the underperforming Rasmus Højlund in order to secure a more potent strike partner for new signing Matheus Cunha. However. Joshua Zirkzee is expected to be retained by Amorim, who thinks the Dutch striker deserves another chance.
