Mother-son held for kidnapping 6-year-old child

The Gurugram police have arrested a mother-son for the alleged kidnapping a 6-year-old child from Sector 40 area and safely rescued the kid from Agra. The accused revealed that they were trying to sell the child to a wealthy childless couple.

According to the police, a man had filed a complaint at the Sector 40 police station on June 23, stating that his 6-year-old son had been kidnapped. An FIR was registered at Sector 40 police station on June 24.

During the investigation, a team from the Anti Human Trafficking Branch of Gurugram police arrested an accused identified as Shivam from Agra on July 2 and safely rescued the child. The police had taken the accused into custody for four days after he was produced in a city court.

During interrogation, Shivam revealed the name of his mother, Manoj, who had kept the kidnapped child at her home in Agra. Subsequently, the police arrested Manoj from Agra on Saturday. Both are residents of Madhav Vihar colony in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

“During the investigation, it was revealed that the main accused, Shivam, lured the child with the promise of giving him a toffee and then kidnapped him. He took the child to Agra, where he kept him with his mother, Manoj. They were searching for a couple willing to pay a substantial amount of money in exchange for the child, but the police apprehended them. We are currently questioning the accused," said the police spokesperson.
