Pensioners’ forum slams HPSEBL over unpaid dues
The local units of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Ltd (HPSEBL) Pensioners’ Forum convened a crucial meeting on Sunday under the chairmanship of state vice-president Pawan Mohal. Representatives from Nurpur, Jawali, Fatehpur, Gangath, Indora and Kotla units participated in the gathering, which was marked by strong discontent over the board’s handling of pension-related dues.
Presiding over the meeting, Mohal condemned the HPSEBL management for failing to release revised pay scale benefits to employees and officers who retired between January 2016 and March 2022. He further highlighted that revised gratuity and leave encashment had also not been disbursed, fueling widespread frustration among pensioners.
The forum also criticised the board’s decision to abolish sanctioned posts under the guise of service rationalisation. Members pointed out that over 12,000 sanctioned posts across various categories remain vacant statewide, exacerbating operational inefficiencies.
Another major concern voiced was the non-implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in HPSEBL, despite its rollout in other state departments.
