Police train 27 personnel in e-challan to boost digital road safety management
In a step towards modernising traffic enforcement and road accident reporting, 27 police personnel from across Himachal Pradesh — including six Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), 12 head constables and nine constables — underwent specialised training in e-challan and iRAD/e-DAR (Integrated Road Accident Database and e-Detailed Accident Report) systems.
The training programme, organised by the Traffic, Tourism and Railways (TTR) Unit of the Himachal Pradesh Police, aimed to enhance the participants’ operational efficiency in handling digital road safety data and streamline traffic law enforcement through technology.
As part of the hands-on training, field officers were acquainted with the core functionalities of the iRAD and e-DAR platforms, designed to digitise and centralise accident data collection and reporting. The programme also focused on strengthening the effectiveness of the e-challan mechanism by integrating it with real-time accident data, enabling timely, transparent and accurate case handling.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) TTR, Vinod Kumar, emphasised the broader vision behind the initiative. “This is part of the larger strategy of Himachal Pradesh Police to promote transparency, digitisation and efficiency in road safety management. It aligns closely with the goals of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH),” he said.
Officials noted that such training will not only boost the technological proficiency of traffic personnel but also contribute to better data-driven decision-making in accident prevention and enforcement operations.
