Haryana woman gangraped on train, pushed out, loses leg
In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped aboard a train at the local railway station and pushed on to the railway tracks at Sonepat, where she was run over by another train resulting in the loss of a limb.
The victim was admitted to the Sonepat Civil Hospital, from where she was referred to the PGIMS, Rohtak. The matter came to light after the victim narrated the incident to a woman doctor at the PGIMS on June 4.
The Quila police have registered a zero FIR under sections of gangrape and forwarded it to the Panipat Government Railway Police (GRP) for further action.
The woman had gone missing from her house under suspicious circumstances on June 24. Her husband lodged a missing person’s complaint at the Quila police station on June 26 and a case was registered.
On the night of June 25, the Sonepat GRP admitted the woman to the Civil Hospital after she was found with a severed leg on tracks near Hindu College. She was later shifted to the Rohtak hospital.
SI Shri Niwas, SHO of the Quila police station, said after the doctors informed the Sonepat GRP about the alleged grangrape, a team visited the PGIMS and recorded the woman’s statement. The victim claimed that she was gangraped by two-three persons in the train compartment at the Panipat railway station, the SHO said.
Inspector Rajesh, SHO of the GRP police station, said the zero FIR had been received from the Quila police station and further action would be initiated. The matter would be probed from various angles, the SHO added.
