DLF residents seek solar streetlights, CCTV cameras
The DLF Citizens’ Welfare Association has submitted a formal request to the Commissioner of the Rohtak Municipal Corporation (MC), seeking the installation of solar-powered streetlights and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras on the main road leading from Pappu Bakery to the DLF Colony. The association stressed that this step was vital to ensuring the safety and convenience of residents.
“While some conventional lights are in place, these are not providing adequate illumination due to surrounding electrical wires and poor infrastructure. In contrast, solar streetlights, which have been installed in a few other areas, have proved to be more effective and provide full lighting, making these a suitable solution for this road. The installation of solar lights will ensure consistent and proper illumination,” said Manmohan Kathuria, president of the association.
He said low visibility created a sense of insecurity among the residents and encouraged criminal activity. Recently, a motor was stolen from the colony park. Individuals with suspicious background were observed to be loitering on the road at night, raising safety concerns. A meeting of the association’s office-bearers and members was held recently to discuss the matter, where it was unanimously decided to approach the municipal authorities, he added.
“We have requested the Commissioner to take immediate action by installing solar streetlights and CCTV cameras. These measures will help deter theft, improve road safety and create a secure environment for the residents. We are hopeful that our demand will be met promptly, considering the safety and well-being of the large number of families living in the DLF Colony,” Kathuria added.
