The Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), Nawanshahr, was a special invitee at a drug awareness seminar organised by PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Langroa, on Sunday. The seminar, aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, was conducted under the leadership of Principal Dr Surinder Pal Agnihotri.
Chaman Singh, Project Director of IRCA, addressed the gathering and emphasised the significance of school-based drug awareness programmes. He suggested that such initiatives should include presentations, workshops and counselling sessions to educate students about the severe consequences of drug abuse. Singh also highlighted the need to equip students with essential life skills to build resilience, make informed decisions and cope with challenging situations. He stressed that these skills can empower young people to live a fulfilling life without resorting to drugs or alcohol, and confidently refuse substances when faced with pressure.

He warned students about the dangers of drug addiction and its far-reaching impact on individuals, families and society. He encouraged students to prioritise their education and become responsible citizens who contribute positively to their communities.
Principal Dr Surinder Pal Agnihotri expressed his gratitude to the visiting team from the Health Department and the Red Cross. As a token of appreciation, he presented them with recognition gifts.
