Teachers honoured for contribution to International Punjabi Language Olympiad

Nawanshahr district has received special recognition as three of its teachers were honoured for their significant contributions to the preparation of study material for the International Punjabi Language Olympiad.

The ceremony, organised by the Punjab School Education Board, was held on Friday to celebrate the efforts of both students and teachers participating in the Olympiad.

During the event, three teachers from the district were felicitated for their role in developing academic content for the Olympiad. The awardees included Satnam Singh (State Awardee), Head Teacher at Babbar Dalip Singh School, Government Primary School Gosal; Ajay Khatkar (State Awardee) from Government Senior Secondary School Kahma; and Gagandeep Singh from Government Primary School Garhi Ajit Singh.

Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains honoured the teachers for their exceptional contributions to the promotion of the Punjabi language. District Education Officer (Secondary) Anita Sharma congratulated the teachers and highlighted the pride of contributing to the global recognition of the Punjabi language. “Serving one’s mother tongue and promoting it at the international level is truly a matter of honour,” she remarked.

Several prominent dignitaries attended the ceremony, including Punjab School Education Board Chairman and former IAS officer Amarpal Singh, Director of Primary Education Harkirat Kaur Channi, Board Secretary Gurinder Singh Sodhi, Director of Punjab Language Department Jaswant Singh Zafar, and Head of the Punjabi Language Cell, Parminder Kaur.

Speaking on the occasion, the honoured teachers, Satnam Singh, Ajay Khatkar, and Gagandeep Singh, expressed their gratitude and said that promoting and preserving Punjabi is the primary responsibility of every Punjabi.

They added that such recognitions motivate educators and inspire them to take on more meaningful projects in the future. They pledged to continue contributing to similar cultural and educational initiatives. Other education department officials also praised the dedication and commitment of the teachers towards educational service, urging other teachers to draw inspiration from their achievements.
