This star delivered a blockbuster from his debut
Talking about Rakeysh’s childhood, he spent it in the streets of Delhi. His father was an employee in a hotel in New Delhi, and the financial condition of the family was normal. The seed of creativity sprouted in Rakeysh while studying in Delhi’s Air Force Bal Bharti School.
During his school days, he used to participate in drama and cultural events. But his first love was sports. He loved swimming very much. In 1982, when India was hosting the Asian Games, 19-year-old Rakeysh participated in swimming. With the dream of winning a medal in his eyes, he reached the final round, but could not get selected. This shook him.
How did Rakeysh make it to the cinema?
After leaving the sports field, Rakeysh entered the world of advertising. In the 1980s, he made hundreds of advertising films, in which his work for many brands was appreciated. This experience taught him the art of storytelling. In the year 2001, he made his first film ‘Aks’, in which actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpayee were in the lead roles. Although the film could not do wonders at the box office, it showed a glimpse of Rakeysh’s directorial talent.
