Breaking News: Landslide Closes Badrinath Highway, Chamoli Faces Massive Traffic Jam | ABP NEWS

A massive landslide occurred on the Badrinath highway in Chamoli's Kaleshwar area after continuous overnight rainfall. Large amounts of debris and rocks have slid down from the mountains, completely blocking the national highway. Authorities have partially reopened one lane, but heavy traffic jams stretching several kilometers have formed in both directions—from Karnaprayag to Badrinath and vice versa towards Rudraprayag. The landslide-prone zone also threatens the nearby Badrish Hotel, which was evacuated by officials as falling boulders pose a serious risk to the building. Previously, a large rock had damaged the hotel, and now the threat remains severe due to ongoing rains and unstable terrain. The administration is working tirelessly to clear the debris and restore smooth traffic flow. Tourists returning from Badrinath and those heading towards the pilgrimage site are both stuck in long queues. Authorities warn that the landslide risk remains high for the next two days due to predicted heavy rainfall, urging caution in the region.
