Punjab Businessman Sanjay Verma Shot Dead In Fazilka's Abohar City
Fazilka: Businessman Sanjay Verma was reportedly shot dead by unknown assailants in Punjab's Fazilka district on Monday. The incident took place at Bhagat Singh Chowk in Abohar outside his store.
Panic gripped the area after the incident. According to a report by The Tribune, The assailants came on a motorcycle and opened fire on him without warning.
Locals fled from the scene as the three gunmen opened fire at the businessman. The assailants fled from the scene after killing Verma. He was the owner of The New Wear Well Tailors in Abohar.
After receiving the information, police reached teh spot. Cops are scanning the CCTV footage in the area to identify the three accused. The motive behind Verma's murder is still not known.
The Opposition parties in the state are targeting Bhagwant Mann-led government over Verma's murder. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal called the law and order situation in the state as "jungle raaj".
"Law and order in Punjab has plummeted to its lowest point. The shocking daylight murder of Sanjay Verma, owner of The New Wear Well Tailors in Abohar, underscores the prevailing jungle raaj. Businessmen and professionals including doctors, artists & athletes are facing grave threats from extortionists," Badal said in his X post.
"I strongly condemn this brutal killing and offer heartfelt condolences to the Verma family. The perpetrators must be arrested immediately and brought to justice," he added.
