Key points in ‘New Wear Well’ co-owner Sanjay Verma murder case

A 58-year-old businessman, brother of renowned fashion designer Jagat Verma, was shot dead near Lala Lajpat Rai Chowk around in Abohar at 10.15 a.m.

Eyewitnesses say 2–3 shooters on motorcycles opened fire as he stepped out of his car.

Police at spot.

He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, but declared dead. Police recovered empty shells and an abandoned bike near the scene. SSP Gurmeet Singh is overseeing the investigation.

Attack details:

2–3 assailants involved.

Assailants arrived on motorcycles, parked near Lala Lajpat Rai Park.

Opened fire as Verma stepped out of his Hyundai i20.

Approx. 10 rounds fired; 4 hit the car.

Bike found abandoned

Verma collapsed on the road; taken to Civil Hospital, declared dead on arrival.

Bullet shells recovered from the spot.

Bike found abandoned near the Govt Girls Senior Secondary Smart School; seized by police.

Police probe 

Police and forensic teams launched an investigation.

SSP Gurmeet Singh reached Abohar to supervise the case.
