However, shops and malls have been kept out of this.
If you work more, you will get Over Time
According to the report of India Today, with the aim of making business easier in the state, the Telangana government has issued this big order regarding the working hours in a week (Telangana Work Week Hours). According to the government order issued by the Department of Labor, Employment, Training and Factory on July 5, this change has been made under the Telangana Shops and Establishments Act, 1988 (Act No. 20 of 1988). According to the government order, it has been clarified that the daily working hours in commercial units should not exceed 10 hours and the weekly working hours limit should not exceed 48 hours. Along with these limits, it was stated in the government order that if the employees work more than this, they will also be given overtime.
Half an hour break, order effective from July 8!
On one hand, according to the new limit set by the Telangana government, if the work is done for more than 10 hours, then the employees will get overtime, but here it has also been clarified that despite overtime, the shift cannot be more than 12 hours. Apart from this, it is also necessary to give a 30-minute break to the employees after working for more than 6 hours daily. Telangana Govt This order will come into effect after being published in the Telangana Gazette on July 8.
Not following the rules will cost you heavily
According to the government, this law regarding working hours in a week has been brought with the objective of promoting business in the state. Under this, employees working in commercial units can be allowed to work more than 48 hours a week on overtime wages, but they will not have to work more than 144 hours in any quarter. The government has also clearly stated that if these conditions are not followed or violated, the exemption given to the concerned company will be cancelled.
Decision amid debate on work-life balance
It is worth noting that the Telangana government has approved the proposal regarding working hours in a week at a time when the debate on work-life balance has been going on for a long time in the country. Last year, while Infosys Chairman N R Narayana Murthy had heated up the issue by advising 70 hours of work in a week, after this L&T Chairman S N Subrahmanyan went two steps further and advised a 90-hour work week, for which he was severely criticized.
