Indore To Plant 20K Saplings At Reoti Range On July 12
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): As ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign completes one successful year, Indore Municipal Corporation is set to celebrate with a massive plantation drive on July 12, during which 20k saplings will be planted at the Reoti Range hill.
The announcement was made by IMC public works and garden in-charge Rajendra Rathore who highlighted that the initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and expand green cover in the city. Last year, Indore created a world record by planting over 12 lakh saplings in a day at Reoti Range under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
To review preparations for the upcoming event, Cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya conducted a site inspection on Monday, accompanied by Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav and Rathore.
The minister assessed the plantation site and gave directives to officials for selection of plant species, irrigation planning and long-term maintenance strategies. Senior officials from the IMC were also present. They were instructed to ensure timely and high-quality execution of the plantation effort.
Rathore stressed that the campaign is not just about increasing greenery, but also about spreading environmental awareness among citizens. The initiative encourages active participation from various sections of society — including schools, colleges, NGOs, RWAs and industry groups.
