On 9th July, there will be no work in banks across the country. 10 central trade unions, their affiliates, banking, insurance, postal, coal mining, highway, construction, state transport are all on strike. All India Bank Employees Association, Bengal Provincial Bank Employees Association, Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI), AITUC, HMS, CITU, INTUC, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF and UTUC are involved in this strike.

Why is there a Bharat Bandh on 9th July

The unions have called for a strike against government policies. The Bank Employees Union said that they will go on strike against the anti-labour policies and pro-corporate economic reforms of the central government. The union says that the government is trying to benefit the corporates by ignoring their demands. According to the Union Forum, 25 to 30 crore employees will participate in this strike. Apart from them, farmers and labourers are also a part of this nationwide strike. The employee unions say that their 17-point demands are being continuously ignored by the government.

Work in many sectors will be affected in tomorrow’s strike. Due to the strike of employees, work in offices will be halted. Work will be halted in these sectors on July 9.
