Will RCB’s Yash Dayal be banned from IPL? Pacer faces 10-year jail over sexual exploitation charges

Barely a month after the high of winning an Indian Premier League title, Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Yash Dayal is in serious trouble. An FIR has been registered against him for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman.
The victim has reportedly filed a complaint against Dayal, 27, with supporting evidence, including screenshots of WhatsApp chats, video calls, and pictures. A probe is on. Police sources also revealed that she has accused him of financial, mental, and physical exploitation under the guise of marriage.
The FIR was registered at Indirapuram police station on July 6 under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 69 (sexual intercourse by deceitful means, including a false promise of marriage), police sources said. It is a non-bailable offence that carries a potential sentence of 10-year imprisonment.
The woman was reportedly in a relationship with Dayal for the past five years. According to Amar Ujala, the woman said that his family members, too, assured her of marriage and that she visited his house often. Dayal’s father has, however, denied knowing the girl.
The woman has first tried to register the complaint through the women’s helpline but did not get a response, following which she made a complaint to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath through IGRS (integrated grievance redressal system) on June 21.
How will RCB and BCCI respond to allegations against Yash Dayal?
During the IPL 2025, all players and team officials were bound by the Code of Conduct. While the tournament is over, and also the Code of Conduct does not specifically list out any rules or sanctions for off-field incidents such as in the case of Dayal, the player may be suspended pending investigation. He will not be able to participate in any events or activities on or off the field for the franchise.
It remains to be seen if the RCB or the BCCI will do it or play the waiting game.
A conviction, however, can result in a ban on Dayal from all activities involving the BCCI.
BCCI has implemented a detailed Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Policy to address allegations of sexual assault or harassment. It was ratified in September 2021 and brought cricketers, along with other BCCI personnel, under its ambit. However, the legal procedure is expected to take its course in Dayal’s case.
